It's a great opportunity to keep informed of all the great activities the District 38 DFL is planning for the next several weeks and a chance to talk with like-minded neighbors. No commitments are required other than a willingness to stay informed and socialize with other Democrats in your community. More than 50 DFLers from Minnesota Senate District 38 gathered at Granite City Food & Brewery in Eagan to celebrate success in the district and begin planning for victory in the 2010 elections.

Senator Jim Carlson and Representatives Sandra Masin and Mike Obermueller were on hand to thank attendees for their past support and rally the troops for the upcoming election. In addition, gubernatorial candidates Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Paul Thissen and Second District Congressional Candidates Dan Powers and Shelley Madore stopped by to greet attendees.

Although speeches were part of the event, most of the time was spent socializing with neighbors and making new friends. Pictures from the event can be found online.

The Senate District 38 DFL Convention on February 20, 2010, passed 25 resolutions ranging from support of universal health care and other health care reforms to promotion of climate change and other environmental protection policies to limiting corporate involvement in campaigns and elections.

The District Convention's passage of the 25 resolutions is one step in the process of amending the state DFL party platform that began when precinct caucus attendees proposed and adopted 67 resolutions on February 2. At least 60% of District Convention delegates had to vote in favor of a resolution in order for it to be passed and sent to the DFL State Convention April 23-25 in Duluth for consideration by those delegates for inclusion in the party platform.

Delegates to the SD 38 DFL convention unanimously endorsed Senator Jim Carlson for a second term.   The convention which met at the Dakota Hills Middle School on February 20th also endorsed Representative Sandra Masin for re-election in 38A and Representative Mike Obermueller for reelection in 38B.The convention also reelected Vicki Wright as Senate District Chair and Terry Davis for Associate Chair.
